The designer Carl Aubock Sr. was one of the most extraordinary personalities of Austrian modernism.

From 1917-19 Aubock studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and from 1919-21 he studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar as a student of Johannes Itten. After such achievements, he took over the workshop of his father 1926.

In the early1940s he developed his very "Modernistic" style for handcrafted accessories and home requisites that - after the war - made him famous on an international basis. His design career reached the its pinnacle at the Triennale di Milano 1954, where he received four gold medals for his work.
