Mark Sheinkman

4 piece(s) in the gallery

Mark was given a plate that had been etched evenly all over with aquatint so that it printed black. He then proceeded to make his imagery. Using tape and stencils he would block all of the plate except for the straight or curved line he wanted to lighten and then polish the plate in that shape with sand papers, steel wool and metal polishes. He generally worked on shapes progressively from the darker ones to lighter ones (the lighter ones overlapped the darker ones). Each shape had to be defined and taped off one at a time. Once finished and proofed, Mark would make adjustments.
